I feel pretty important. I honestly didn't even expect to get, but maybe, 1 follower. Look at me now though... I'm practically a celebrity! :P
Anyways! I just thought that I would let everyone know that we have just paid off the full tuition! :D I can't wait till I find out who the host family is!
But yup!
Later :D

So, sweet stuff has happened!
Wow, I just noticed how much I put off updating this blog but there'll be way more to post once I'm actually in Japan. :P
Well first off, I got my invoice at the begining of December and it said I had to pay $1,500 in a month! BUTTTTT!!!! That is the same time that I have to make the full payment anyway, so I was already prepared for a big payment. :) As you know by the date of this post, it is already the end of December, so.... My family and I are paying off the full tuition tomorrow!! :D
I have been working a lot so far but finally got my first 2 weeks off from my job and right before that I got the biggest paycheck I have earned so far. :) Sadly, I will be returning to work on Saturday but I only have to work there for a little while longer!
So Ryan Esteves said he didn't care if I mentioned him in my blog (but I know he does) and he has been helping out with the side work I have been doing A.K.A. mowing lawns. One of the lawns he helped with actually paid me $200!!! So thanks Ryan... Thanks a lot!!! >:(
My family in west Texas has also helped out A LOT! They have been doing so much and now that we are paying the tuition, they have really made the payment easier on us. :D They're the best! Thank you guys!!! :D
Also my family has helped so much, even my siblings Brooke and Tate! Now that we have put in everthing we have raised, my mom and dad will pay the rest and so I would like to thank them! :D I wouldn't have been able to do ANY of this without y'all! And thank you to Brooke and Tate! :)
Well, I have found out my flight times, when I need to be in L.A. for pre-departure orientation and when I will be in Tokyo for a several-day long orientation preparing everyone for a year in Japan! :D All I need to find out now is who my host family will be and I plan on finding that out sometime in January!
I will definitely have a new post when that happens, so expect one soon!

Update!!!
Okay Okay! I know I haven't updated this blog since my first post, which was over a month ago, and as you might expect a lot of things have happened.
First of all, I was accepted by AFS U.S. on September 30! They sent me an email confirming it and stating that my application had been sent to AFS Japan for the final word on whether or not I will be going. They also told me that it may be a lengthy wait... MAYBE EVEN 2 MONTHS!!! A few days after being accepted by the U.S., they AFS sent me a packet on preparing for the trip, actually 2 booklets, one for my parents and one for me.
Secondly, we have been raising as much money as possible! We put together a couple more bake sales, one of which my family drove 5 hours to make it to after they finished baking everything for it! They also held a cake walk for me just recently and raised even more for the trip! :D THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!! We also finished selling raffle tickets and held the drawing at a Halloween Party on October 31. The winner of the Stainless Steel Gas Grill was Oscar from Ozona, Texas!!!
And lastly! On October 26... I was accepted by AFS Japan! ^^ It didn't even take a full month to get this letter and seeing it made me feel like it's really happening! Even though it's still hard to comprehend. Well, thats about everything that has happened so far. If I missed anything or something new happens I'll post about it! And sooner too!!!

Study in Japan!
Hey everyone, my name is RT and I am going to be taking part in a foriegn exchange program to Japan in 2010 for a year-long study abroad. I have always wanted to go to Japan and I plan on living there once I am out of high school, so this opportunity seems like a great head start! I think it would be so great to be able to go to another country on the OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD and be able to learn about there culture and see things from a different point of view. Also, I gotta admit, it would be really awesome to be able to learn the language while I am over there! Me going to Japan would be like bringing a little piece of the U.S. to a country that I'm sure wonder what it's like for us over here as well. I would love to be able to tell them all about the different kinds of people, food, holidays, and things we do.
I am so happy that my family is so supportive of my decision and so many of my friends are as well!! Everyone has already started giving me ideas, helping find lawns I can mow (HAHA :D), and even setting up fundraisers for me! I have a lot of people that want me to do this and will help me as much as they can to get me there, I'm so greatful that I have so many people that would help with my dream. At first it was a little bit difficult to start raising money for this program, but here over the past couple of weeks we have gotten some real momentum going!
At first I started out by getting a job to raise money (you can find me at People's on the weekends), then I recently started mowing lawns also which is going really well but it sure is hot!!! This past weekend we had a bake sale at Sam's Club and raised over $400 dollars and my mom set another one up for this next weekend at Lowe's. We are also going to be raffling off a couple of grills that will be donated to us, one from our neighbor Duke and one from my mom's boss. Thank you everyone for contributing so much! I only have about 3 months till ALL of the money is due so ideas and support are GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! (because it's quite a bit of cash)
THANK YOU AGAIN!
